Review {Update}: Naturals Beauty Teen Range

Hi Pretties,

I hope your Monday wasn't too blue?

Recently I did a first impressions on the Naturals Beauty Teen Range here which I've been using ever since:

The first dew days of using the products, I must admit I was a bit put off by the smell of it, now I know that is just me being really fussy with smells, as I tend to be drawn to sweet smelling things, whereas this has a very natural, herb and earthy smell.  It's not awful or anything, but I just wasn't used to it.  However, now it doesn't smell so bad anymore and I quite like it.

One of the first things I noticed is reduced redness on my skin, I do have very sensitive skin, and tend to have quite a lot of redness, it felt like the face wash and moisturiser calmed it down, I also had clear skin and no breakouts.  The facewash is a gel texture that is very foamy and I love that, I don't feel clean until a wash gives me a proper lather, and this certainly does.  The moisturiser is very thin and liquidy, and is perfect for teens or people that like a no fuss skincare routine as it can safely be used on the eyes, so if you're the kind of woman that's looking for a minimum amount of skincare, this could be right up your alley.

My skin looked and felt really good, that is until last week, I woke up one morning with three huge bumps on my chin, I'm very rigorous with my skincare routine and never go to sleep with make up on, I do feel though that the skin breakout had more to do with hormones than anything else, it's one of those unfortunate things that happens to women in their 30's, hey growing old isn't for sissy's okay ;)  I used the spot treatment for 3 days until it finally cleared up, so I wouldn't say that the spot treatment is an overnight correction treatment, but it definitely helped.  Like I said though, it wasn't just a normal spot breakout it was a bit more severe than that, so I do think that the treatment will actually clear normal spots quicker.

It's important that if you do have skin that are maturing like mine, that you include anti-ageing products as this offers no anti-ageing properties whatsoever.  For a week I used just these two products.  Now I use an anti-ageing serum or gel, with an anti-ageing eye cream, then use the teen moisturiser.  I feel that the combination of these products work really well together, as it addresses multiple skin concerns I have.

I would highly recommend these products if you do suffer from problem skin, they do have skincare for other skin types too, so please have a look at the Naturals Beauty website to find a product suitable for you.

{Working} a Skater Dress

Hi my Lovelies,

I hope you're having a fabulous weekend so far?

So the other day I stumbled upon this great skater dress in Legit, I adore the colours and the stud detailing on the shoulder, and wanted to show you how you can wear a skater dress to work:
Dress:  Legit
Jacket:  Truworths
Spike Necklace:  Sass Diva
Nails:  Essence Color & Go in Do You Speak Love
Ted Lapidus White Soul Gold & Diamonds Perfume R895.00 per 100ml*

I know we've been taught to be wary of horizontal stripes, especially if you're on the curvy side, but thin stripes like these in dark colours could be very flattering, I adore this skater dress, it's such a versatile piece to own and could be styled in so many different ways.

I kept mine simple and work-wear appropriate by pairing it with suede boots, this gorgeous spike necklace from Sass Diva, and a chic black coat from Truworths.  The tiny belt cinches in my waist perfectly, which creates a lovely hourglass shape.

For weekends I'll easily wear this dress with my favourite Ackermans boots, a cool biker or denim jacket with chunky and vibrant jewellery.  I also think pairing this with a jewel-toned green or mustard would look awesome!  So you see, this little beauty is indeed a lovely piece to have in your winter wardrobe.

No look is complete without wearing a fragrance to suit your mood for that day, and I felt that the Ted Lapidus White Soul Gold & Diamonds described me perfectly:  "voluptuous and charismatic" indeed ;) and don't you think the bottle has a very womenly shape to it?  Gorgeous!  And it should be no surprise that the perfume has notes of vanilla orchid and orange blossom in, which makes it a pretty floral fragrance, and creates a nice feminine contrast to my skater chick dress.

Wishing you an awesome Saturday pretties! :-)

{OOTD} These Boots Are Made for Walking

Hi Beauties,

I hope you've had a fantastic week?

On Sunday hubby and I had a movie date, it's one of our favourite things to do together, it's fun and who can resist a big box of buttery popcorn and an icy cold slush puppy?  I wanted to watch Identity Theft, but as luck would have it hubby saw the new release of Tom Cruise's movie Oblivion, so instead as a good and loving wife ~ I made the ultimate sacrifice and allowed him to pick ;) LOL ... oh the drama!

Anyway, let me get down to what I wore for the day:
Chunky Sequins Jersey/Jumper ~ Ackermans
Leggings ~ Mr Price
Studded Ankle Boots ~ Ackermans (R199)!!  Yes I couldn't believe it either!
Jewellery ~ Sass Diva
Rihanna Nude R645.00 per 50ml*

Don't judge me, but I hadn't been into Ackermans in years!  And recently I walked past their window display and almost dislocated the joints in my neck, I could not believe what totally fabulous pieces they had!  Well done to their buying team, you guys are doing an awesome job at changing your reputation, and is now definitely one of my must visit stores monthly.

This chunky jumper is so gorgeous, it's the most beautiful weave of white and black, decorated with the daintiest sequins, it's big and cosy, so you can wear it like I do or as a one shoulder, it's really long in the back so you don't have to worry about flashing too much of your derriere.  And for a night out?  Pair them with faux-leather leggings, a cropped biker jacket or blazer, dangly earrings and you're ready to rock it out.

But the best buy of all?  These dreamy and trendy spike ankle booties!  I am in love with them!  It's made of the softest material, is so comfy, I adore the chunky heel (fashion baby), it's kind of cowboy inspired and it's adoration worthy.

Don't fall victim to the head-to-toe spikes "trend" I've seen around.  It's not pretty and no one wants to look like the outcast of some backyard metal/rock group.  Get one statement piece and allow it to take centre stage.

I paired some fabulous silver jewellery pieces with my outfit, and decided that I quite liked the look of my Michael Kors inspired rose gold watch from Sass Diva.  For colour I used this beautiful coral clutch bag from Mr Price.

One of my recent favourite perfumes have been Rihanna Nude, my hubby adores the smell so I found it fitting to wear on our date {PS Am I the only one that has perfumes for certain events i.e dates, work, home etc LoL?}, with layers of guava, mandarin and pear which opens into a sultry softness with orange blossom, gardenia petals and velvet jasmin sambac, notes of sandalwood, musk and feminine hints of vanilla orchid, makes this a unique, fresh and sexy scent - Just like Rihanna!  Look out for this lovely fragrance in stores now, they're available in 30ml and 50ml.

I hope you enjoyed this outfit pretties?  Have you been into Ackermans recently?

{OOTN} Last Summer Days

Hi Fashionistas,

Hope you've had a fantastic week?

In my books sometimes a simple outfit is chic, and I adore the cream and black with gold detailing:

Wet-Look Leggings:  Cotton On
Cream High-Low Shirt:  Jay-Jays
Black Patent Pumps:  Rage
Gold Earrings:  Mr Price
Handbag:  Foschini

It's not often that I wear my hair up, well I do, mostly at home and sometimes for work, so my hubby said with great delight that he loves my hair like this {bless him}, we went out to dinner with family for birthday celebrations, and I adored this outfit, which is also perfect for when it gets colder because I could simply add a scarf with either a blazer/biker jacket or a lovely knitted jumper.  These shirts should be a staple in your closet anyway if you're like me and pear-shaped so slightly curvy over the bum/hip area.

So if you're looking for pieces to invest in for winter, I do suggest leggings and shirts like these, which will give you a few awesome pieces to work with in fall/winter.

Hope you like my outfit as much as I do, and let me know your thoughts about my hair being up like this?

{OOTD}: Oz the Great and Powerful

Hi my Pretties,

I hope you've had an amazing week so far?  Tomorrow is Human Rights Day in South-Africa, not only do we have the day off but it is so important that as South-Africans we take this time to reflect on where our country is and where it is going, especially with all of the tragic events that have happened recently.

Okay, so now that all of the serious things are out of the way LoL ~ on Saturday myself, my hubby, brother and sis-in-law watched Oz the Great and Powerful at the cinema, you know it's a fantastic movie when you're transported to a whole new imaginative world, and they certainly delivered.

Haha I had to include this one!!  It's one of the silly ones that works in my mind but somehow ends up looking creepy ~ here's to my fellow blogging gal pal weird poses at least we can laugh at ourselves right ;) hehe ...
Skinny Jeans:  Sissy Boy* (Birthday Gift)
Grey High-Low Shirt:  Mr Price
Green Faux-Leather Jacket:  Meltz
Scarf:  Mr Price
Shoes:  Legit
Bag:  Foschini
Stack Rings:  Sass Diva

Juicy Couture:  Juicy la Viva
Eyeliner:  GOSH Intense Eye Liner Pen 01 Black*
Blush:  GOSH Natural Blush in 43 Flower Power*

So it's definitely safe to say that the season is changing, and I can feel the crispness of fall/autumn in the air, it's also time to take out transition clothing i.e. clothing you can add/take off as the weather changes during the day/night.  And yes, you've seen this fabulous pair of skinny jeans before, but I just adore them, this look is kind of my go-to look for colder months, and why not, it looks trendy but is still classic.

On my face I wore my go-to foundation X-Ceptional Wear, with this amazing eyeliner although I still prefer my Essence one, and this beautiful rose pink blush, it's a matte powder one which works perfectly during the daytime, you can switch up the va-va-voom factor for fab nights out by adding a highlighter to the top of your cheeks.  Of course I finished the look with my all time favourite perfume, I'm in LOVE!

I will be doing a post about this perfume soon, you need to know how utterly amazing it is, because everytime I walk past my "smell nice" tray, I can't help but reach out and have a little sniff hehe ;)

Hope you enjoyed this look beauties!

New Hair and Outfit of the Day

Hi Pretties,

Last weekend I got my hair snipped a little bit, I adore having long, big hair, but about a year ago I ombre'd it, and basically you can't get ombre out of your hair unless you cut it out, that's the just of it, so my ends always end up fading quicker, and it tends to look brassy and just very unhealthy, so I had to have a good portion cut off to give me that bounce and vibrance again.  I dyed it a lovely chocolate brown, had loads of layers cut in to help with teasing my hair, and then had a little fringe/bang cut, it's the perfect length because I can still sweep it to the side, or have a bit more on my forehead or pin it back completely.

Skirt:  Jet
Blue Top:  Focshini
Faux Snakeskin Belt:  Foschini
Cross Necklace:  Mr Price
Flower Ring:  Sass Diva

Our weather has been a bit iffy lately, it's not yet the time for season changes, but still, it makes it quite hard to know how to dress, so I love this chiffon lined maxi skirt, you can wear it so many ways, I love it on my hips with tops like these, but it's long enough for me to pull up to my waist and wear it as a high-waisted skirt ... just one of the few advantages of being short ;)

I hope you like my new hair!!!

Review: African Extracts Rooibox Anti Ageing Eye-Cream

Hi my Loves,

I hope you all had an amazing week?

Last night and this morning it's been raining in Joburg, and I'm in heaven.  Yeah I know that my beauties from the cold and rainy regions of the world might wonder about my sanity LoL, but I assure you I'm perfectly fine, I just adore rainy days, maybe they remind me of my days as an expat in the UK ;)

Anyway ~ I've never tried any products from African Extracts Rooibos skincare line, and the other day I was browsing around in Clicks, and this little beauty caught my eye.  If you're also in your 30's, you'll know that suddenly you have little lines appearing, and mine is mostly based on my forehead and under eye area, so I am always looking for a miracle cream, I also suffer from a bout of dark circles which I know is not sleep related, so I couldn't wait to try this one out:

African Extracts Rooibos Anti-Ageing Regenerating Triple-Action Eye Cream (what a mouthful LoL) ~ Clicks, I can't remember the exact price but was definitely under R100

Claims to be:

*  Anti-Wrinkle
*  Anti-Shadow
*  Anti-Puffiness

Let me start off by mentioning the most important ingredient in this product which is the Rooibos herb extracts, if you don't know anything about Rooibos I'll give you a little snippet:  It's South-Africa's best kept secret (thus far LoL), mainly used to make teas, it comes in little tea bags as normal teas does, is considered a herbal tea but very rich in anti-oxidants and also caffeine free, so if you need to up your intake of water, I highly suggest drinking rooibos tea, it's also an amazing tea to have with a bit of honey especially if you feel a bit flu-ish with a sore throat.

I love the little bottle, it's so chic and pretty.  The eye cream has a really nice consistency with a thick enough formula that feels more "body butter" like than runny.  You only need a dab on your ring finger for each eye {when you work around your eye area, be very careful not to tug or pull on the skin, as it's very thin and sensitive}, the first few nights I used this I experienced a slight burning sensation ~ I know you're thinking oohhh that sounds bad.  But honestly, it wasn't a hot burning sensation but felt more like an "active ingredient" feel, as if the product is actually working, it only lasted a few seconds though so I persisted with the product to see if it was an allergic reaction or not.  And glad to report it wasn't!  I'm not sure why it happened, but I've been using this for about 2 weeks now and not experiencing it anymore.

Anti-ageing products is something one needs to use for a relatively long time and with persistence to see results, so I can't comment on that yet, but my eyes feel very moisturised, it absorbs within a minute or two which also makes it a good product to use in the mornings, I am happy to say that I have noticed a difference in my under eye-circles.  They've not vanished completely, but they're definitely at least a shade or two lighter (hoorrayy).

Best bit of all?!  They're cruelty FREE!

I'm so happy that I tried out this nifty little beaut and now I can't wait to get my hands on the rest of them :-)

Have a beautiful Saturday my lovelies!
